Holy Land Pilgrimage with Kitty Cleveland

Day 1 - Leave Saturday
Day 2 - Sunday
Welcome to Israel!
We are greeted at the airport by our guide and board our bus, then off to our hotel in Netanya on the shore of the Mediterranean for dinner and a much-needed night’s sleep!
Day 3 - Monday
After a great Israeli breakfast, we depart early for the ancient Roman seaport of Caesarea where Paul was imprisoned before going to Rome. Then to Mt. Carmel where Elijah defeated the prophets of Ba’al, and then to Nazareth to visit the Church of the
Annunciation--Mary and Joseph’s house, Mary’s well and the ancient Synagogue. Then to Cana for an opportunity for married couples can renew their wedding vows can be renewed.
Then onto our hotel at the Sea of Galilee for check in.
Day 4 - Tuesday
After breakfast, we start at Mount of Beatitudes, the site where Jesus gave the Sermon on the Mount. Then visit Tabgha, where Jesus multiplied the bread and fish and walk through Capernaum, where Jesus performed so many miracles. Next a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee for a time of worship. After lunch of St Peter’s fish, we head to Magdala, the home of Mary Magdalene, to see the incredible excavations on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. Archaeological excavations uncovered the oldest menorah inscription from the Second Temple period with an ancient synagogue that we know Jesus preached in! Our day will conclude at the baptismal site of Yardenit.
Day 5- Wednesday
After another great Israeli breakfast, we begin at Mt. Tabor where Jesus was transfigured. Then we will drive along the Jordan river to Jericho to see the Zacheaus Tree and view the Mt. of Temptation and the old Jericho excavations. Lunch at Jericho with a stop to overlook of Wadi Kelt and see the desert expanse where Elijah, Jesus, John the Baptist and many others wandered.
Arrive at Jerusalem with a stop for a panoramic view and to learn more of its geography and some key sites surrounding the area.
Day 6 - Thursday
We wake early to walk down the Via Dolorosa through the markets of the Old City, reflecting on the greatness of His sacrifice, stopping to pray at each of the fourteen Stations of the Cross, until we reach the church of Holy Sepulcher where we will celebrate morning Mass and visit the Tomb of our Lord. Then return to the hotel for breakfast then head to the Jewish Quarter of the Old City, making our way to the Western Wall to slip our prayers into the stones. Then take in the Davidson Museum and the excavations of the temple from the time of Jesus. After lunch visit the Crusader Church of St Anne’s, and the Pool of Bethesda, as well as the underground pavement of ancient Jerusalem.
Day 7 - Friday
We begin our day at the Israel Museum to see the model of Jerusalem during the second Temple. Then drive to the lowest place on earth, the Dead Sea, and view the caves at Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were hidden. Continuing south to Herod’s mountain fortress of Masada, where the Zealots hid out after the destruction of Jerusalem and the Second Temple, later committing suicide after being surrounded by Herod’s army. Then stop at a Dead Sea hotel for a lunch and a swim in the mineral-rich waters renowned for its healing properties. Mass at Notre Dame.
Day 8 - Saturday
After breakfast, we begin the morning at the Mt. of Olives with a special visit to Pater Naster. Afterwards, walk down the Palm Sunday road to the Church of Dominus Flevit, where our Lord wept over the city. Continuing our walk on the Palm Sunday road to the Garden of Gethsemane at the Rock of Agony, where Jesus uttered his last prayer. Then visit the Church designed to look like the Garden at night. In the afternoon, a visit to Mt. Zion, just outside the City Walls to view the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu, where the Apostle denied Jesus three times, and where Jesus was imprisoned on the night He was betrayed and see the Room of the Last Supper and King David's Tomb. End our day with a visit to the Garden Tomb.
Day 9 - Sunday
After breakfast, we begin our day traveling to Bethlehem to visit the birthplace of our Lord
and tour the Basilica of the Nativity, visit the Grotto of Nativity and the Church of St.
Catherine, where the Midnight Mass is celebrated and the Caves of St. Joseph and St. Jerome are underneath the church. Then onto Shepherd’s Fields where the angels appeared to the shepherds who were watching over their flocks during the night. After lunch, we will drive through the Ella Valley on the way to Ein Karem, the birthplace of John the Baptist, and where Mary and Elizabeth met. Here we will visit the Church of the Visitation considered the third most important holy shrine and where we will have Mass at 3pm.
Ending with a farewell dinner in Abu Gosh before preparing to leave for the airport in Tel Aviv, after an extraordinary pilgrimage through the land of the Bible!
